The Barnard Family
Kath, Jim, Bob, Len, Tony
and Adam
In Australia the surname
Barnard is synonymous with Jazz music. Tony's Grandmother, Kath
Barnard ran a professional danceband in Melbourne from the 1920's
with her husband Jim. Their
two sons, trumpeter Bob Barnard
and drummer Len Barnard, were
brought into that family combo in the 1940s as youngsters and eventually
became - and remain - two of Australia's jazz stars. Bob beget guitarist
Tony and drummer Adam
and the legend continues. This jazz family's reputation was further
enhanced this summer when Tony accompanied his internationally known
father Bob Barnard during his annual residency at Ronnie Scott's
club in London.
